Season three ofBarrymay have finally broken Noho Hank.
The relationship between Hank and Cristobal is so important for your character this season.
The show could have played it for more laughs, but it was very touching.
We wanted to balance getting the laughs but always striving for the real pathos of these characters.
You never want to just play to the gallery.
We tried to take it to a place of what a real, authentic response would look like.
What is his plan?
He has all these intricate ideas, and theyre not grounded in reality whatsoever.
Ultimately, hes met with a very cold, sobering reality.
Does it say in the script what is happening to them?It does not really.
It alludes to whats happening.
It is more described as them being tortured and then essentially … well, I know what was happening.
I knew what was happening on the other side.
Based on what you were told or just what you were imagining?Based on what I was told.
But theres a lot of power in the fact that the audience doesnt get to see it.
It was described in the script somewhat, but it was more this fuel for the reactions.
Painting the picture without picking up the paintbrush, essentially.
Because you do these takes again and again and again, it was challenging.
It certainly pushed my imagination to the limit.
But I had such a good time, weirdly.
Your head is completely red and youre sweating.
Did you give yourself a headache doing that?No, but I certainly slept well that night.
It was exhausting, the level of intensity that had to be channeled in such a brief time.
But thats the cool thing about the profession Im in.
After Hank rescues Cristobal, he hugs Cristobal with relief.
But as that scene ends, a different expression comes over Hanks face.
The moment of reconnecting with Cristobal was really powerful and really beautiful.
But that said, the toll thats taken in getting there doesnt go away.
I dont think enough stories allude to this.

Things are constantly changing.
With season three, you had to deal with a lot of COVID delays.
I was so relieved to get back into it.
Im always in a much better mood after playing NoHo Hank.
So in a way, you quarantined with NoHo Hank?Yeah.
He was a roomie with me.
