Shakespeare died in a Florida hospital after undergoing kidney surgery, according tothe Jamaica Gleaner.
Shakespeare was born in Kingston, Jamaica.
He met drummer Sly Dunbar at Channel One Studio (perStereogum).
They quickly hit it off and started both Sly & Robbie and Taxi Records.
