From where Im sitting, both are equally compelling.

Im hoping it continues down this path indefinitely.

Lets start with the mystery component.

Or so it seems.

Its anybodys game, people!

The quid pro quo?

The dinner itself is a disaster on a sensory level alone.

Silverware scrapes across the plates.

In a way, the sonic assault of the dinner scene is communicating the dissonance under the surface.

Catherine retaliates by essentially reading her mother to filth.

Clarice is forced to sit through it all.

But Catherines gimlet eye for human weakness winds up trained on Clarice, too.

Moreover, Catherine clearly heard Bills last words to Clarice How does it feel to be so beautiful?

a phrase that has echoed in Starlings mind but which she doesnt actually remember Bill saying.

Yet some good comes of this last confrontation.

Unfortunately for Clarice, she doesnt recognize him.

Which is what Ill be keepingClariceunder, if future episodes prove as multifarious and strong as this one.

And character moments large and small make an impact.

(Her name is Bea and shes played by Elizabeth Saunders, if you were wondering.)

(Dont worry, Im a divorce myself, we recognize our own.)
