Lets start with something simple: Lyras observation to the harpy who saves her from the Dust Abyss.
You like stories, dont you?

When Lyra spoke to you outside the wall, you flew at her.

Again, why was that?

Because she spoke the truth.
Because it was nourishing.
Because it was feeding us.
Because we couldnt help it.
Because it was true.
Because we had no idea that there was anything but wickedness.
Because it brought us news of the world and the sun and the wind and the rain.
Because it was true.
Its the harpies liberation.
Their abridged treatment echoes across the series.
A way to not feel what I cant bear.

But theres something fundamentally missing.
When Serafina Pekkala counsels Coulter on loves redemptive powers, theres a bit of irony there.
How loved has Lyra really been by this show?
