The Kids in the Hallare like a family in that they fight all the time.

They fight because they care.

And they credit that caring and fighting for their sketch-comedy shows lasting appeal.

Though its not like my mother at all.

She didnt have a fake British accent like I do.

MM:Or someone else very close, someone whose essence youve absorbed.

ST: Well, you always play girlfriends, too.

Bruce McCulloch: Yeah, my sister wasKathie, but Im not a great actor.

And when I didTammy, I knew I was just going to pout a lot.

And thats all I fucking had.

KM: When Im a woman.

Im stronger, Im braver, Im smarter.

ST: Sometimes its my mother.

Sometimes its a woman I know.

Sometimes its just a woman Id like to be.

And sometimes its just me, you know?

When youre not working on the show, do you miss these opportunities to be women?

To express that part of yourselves?MM:If nothing else, for the creative exercise.

KM: Not the makeup.

Like, not the hours in the makeup chair.

MM: I dont miss the makeup.

Dave Foley: Or the wardrobe fittings … KM: And a purse.

I think it turned out for the best.

We want the same kind of bumpers and the sameShadowy Men music, that sensibility.

And if you had a good idea for a sketch, wed bring that character back.

So they better be as good as the first one or in the ballpark.

BM: And I actually dont like it.

Because sometimes we were quick to go, Were old.

Like when I see Son Volt or something, I think,Oh, those guys are old.

But man, are they cool!And so I think weve aged well in our brains or whatever.

DF: Like how young we looked inDeath Comes to Town.

MM: I had an ab.

I had my last ab.
